Isabel Healy-Morrow VE7ICH
February 13, 1956 - March 26, 2023
We were all very saddened by the passing this year of Isabel, VE7ICH, who succumbed to a very rare viral complication to the chemo therapy that she was receiving for some five years since her diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma. She was working part time up until her twelve week final stay in the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. Isabel was taken from us far too early.
Isabel married Dwight (VE7BV) in 1999, and loved her life on the hobby farm they purchased in Kamloops, her two step sons, her families, her careers, her friends, her animals, both inside and out. She was a gentle soul who was often sought out for advice by many colleagues in all her professions.
Isabel had amazing university successes, having attended in her early forties. She had a bachelor's degree in Social Work from UVic, a Master of Divinity from Emmanuel St Chad in Saskatoon, and was one course short of receiving her doctorate from a Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia, with an average mark of 100%. She was top student in all university classes.
Isabel had a stellar career as a Social Worker, Anglican Minister, Military Chaplain, and counsellor to Merritt detachment of the RCMP. She had a great sense of tradition, and was often consulted in the military and Anglican Church about the appropriate structure of appropriate ceremonies. Isabel presented a paper she co-authored to the general assembly at Nato Headquarters in Brussels .
She loved to complete in the horse world, and played in the military bands of 15th Field, and Royal Westminster Regiment, the BC Travelling band, and numerous other bands as time permitted. She was very comfortable in playing the piano, pipe organ, french horn, and Percussion instruments. .
Isabel received her ham radio Basic with Honours in 2010, and had a DXCC with over 150 confirmed Countries. She loved attending the Pacific Northwest DX conventions.
Isabel enjoyed having "adventures," liked camping, and accompanying Dwight on trips to Guatemala. Her two favourite sayings were no guts, no glory and don't poke a hornets' nest with a stick.
We are all very saddened at her loss, and she certainly leaves a remarkable legacy in all her communities.
